Radio advertising knowhow - A basic intro to Radio advertising

When it comes to radio advertising, most businesses don't take the plunge because they have a real fear of the unknown.

However, the reality of radio is really not that scary at all! Here we take a look at Radio advertising and why it offers a superb value-for-money advertising platform for a vast selection of businesses. When you listen to a commercial radio station, you either love the ads, or think they are a complete pain and a real distraction from your listening pleasure.

However, love em or hate em, they do work! A few years ago, I lived in Cambridgeshire and the local radio station was Q103 (and still is). This radio station had a wonderful mixture of advertising messages and jingles from local restaurants, carpet companies and a whole host of businesses that want to capture an attentive audience at certain times of the day. One particular ad has always stuck out in my mind for two main reasons:

1. Because the jingle is catchy (but you have to be there) Andrew Mculloch, better value, Andrew Mculloch, better value than you bargained for.

2. And because my wife actually dated the son of the owner before I made an honest woman of her.

Now we all have an ad on the radio that we remember and if it can stick in our mind, it can stick in the minds of your potential customers too! The steps for finding a radio station are simple. Do a search on the Internet for radio advertising and then the city closest to you.

For me it was radio advertising Cambridge and when you type this into a SE you get many results with the aforementioned Q103 coming in at number 4 on Google (at the time of writing) You will also see ads and results from companies that will record an advert for you based on your requirements.

Of course, the first thing to work out, is when your potential audience will be listening. If you offer a business product,(or product or service that can be used in a business environment or by business people) then you may want to book a 30 second slot at 8.45 am (just before people get to work) On the other hand, if you are a restaurant, you could advertise at lunchtime and dinner time when people will relate to your message, as they are hungry at the time - get the message? Remember, Radio ads are very powerful and the radio stations are always more than happy to help you. Take a look at radio ads today and you may just find what you have been looking for!
